Seat of the elder branch of House Vance, standing in the hilly country of the western riverlands. The Vances are an ancient line, tracing their descent from the old kings of the rivers, and their green dragons recall glories from before the coming of the Andals.
Two Castles, One House
Long ago House Vance divided into two branches, the Vances of Atranta and the Vances of Wayfarer's Rest, and each keeps its own seat, its own arms quartered after its own fashion, and its own pride. Kin they remain, and in war they ride together beneath Riverrun's banner, yet a careful herald never mistakes the one for the other, for the lords of both houses are quick to correct him.
