Seat of House Blackmont, standing above the upper waters of the Torentine in the western Red Mountains. From its walls the black vulture of Blackmont has flown for centuries, a bird well chosen by lords who have long fed on the borderlands.
The Vulture Kings
More than once have raiders styling themselves Vulture Kings gathered in these mountains to plunder the marches of the Reach and the Stormlands, and Blackmont men have ever been among them. Marcher lords teach their children the vulture banner early, and teach them to hate it.
The Torentine
The river that rises near Blackmont runs swift and cold through mountain gorges down to Starfall and the sea. The castle commands its upper valley, and with it the western paths through the Red Mountains that no army may take unbloodied.
