Seat of House Fossoway of the red apple, standing where the Cockleswhent flows into the Mander. The castle looks out over leagues of orchards, and the ciders and brandies pressed there are prized from Oldtown to the Wall.
The Red Apple
The red apple on gold has flown over Cider Hall since the days of the Gardener Kings, and the Fossoways are counted among the great houses of the Reach. Their orchards are their wealth and their pride alike; it is said a lord of Cider Hall can ride a full day and never leave the shade of his own apple trees. From this trunk the green-apple branch was grafted, when a cadet of the house quartered his arms anew and took a hall of his own at New Barrel.
