A port town on Blackwater Bay north of King's Landing, among the oldest in the realm. In the Age of Heroes the Darklyn kings ruled here, and for centuries Duskendale was the chief harbor of the narrow sea, until the rise of the capital stole away its trade.
The Dun Fort
Above the harbor squats the Dun Fort, the ancient castle of the Darklyns, its drum towers and thick walls now held by House Rykker. It was within these walls that Lord Denys Darklyn held King Aerys II captive for half a year in the Defiance of Duskendale, until Ser Barristan Selmy stole the king to safety.
After the Defiance
The Defiance was the ruin of the Darklyns: the king took their heads, root and branch, and gave their seat to the Rykkers. The town endures, quieter than of old, its cobbled streets and busy quays living in the long shadow of King's Landing.
