Easternmost of the castles of the Night's Watch, Eastwatch-by-the-Sea stands where the Wall ends upon the shore of the Bay of Seals. It is one of only three castles the Watch still mans, and the only one that keeps ships.
The Watch at Sea
From its harbor the black brothers sail galleys upon the Bay of Seals, watching for wildlings who would slip around the Wall's end in skin boats and rafts, and ranging as far as the frozen shores beyond. Trading ships call at Eastwatch as well, from the Free Cities and the ports of the narrow sea, bringing the Watch goods and news in exchange for furs and amber, so that the easternmost castle is also the Watch's window on the wider world.
