Seat of House Toland, raised upon a great hill of white chalk overlooking the Sea of Dorne. The pale hill gleams like a spirit in the moonlight, and from it the castle takes its haunted name.
The Dragon That Bites Its Tail
The Toland banner shows a green dragon devouring its own tail, a memory of the Conquest of Dorne. When the conqueror came to Ghost Hill demanding battle, the Lord Toland of that day sent out his mad fool in his own armor. The king slew the jester and thought the fight won, while the Tolands looked on laughing; the endless dragon mocks him still, and honors the fool with it.
The White Hill
The chalk hill commands the coast road between the Tor and Sunspear, and ships upon the Sea of Dorne steer by its shining slopes. Whatever ghosts walk there, the Tolands have kept their seat upon the hill for centuries and mean to keep it longer.
