Seat of House Velaryon upon the island of Driftmark in Blackwater Bay, raised by Corlys Velaryon, the Sea Snake, with the wealth of his nine great voyages. Its slender towers of pale stone rise straight from the water, and for a time its riches were said to rival those of the Iron Throne itself.
The Driftwood Throne
In the castle's hall stands the Driftwood Throne, the ancient high seat of the Velaryons, given to the house, legend holds, by the Merling King himself. The Sea Snake carried it from the old castle of Driftmark when he judged that damp and gloomy keep unworthy of his line.
The Hall of Nine
The treasures Corlys brought back from Yi Ti, Asshai, and the far ends of the world were housed in the Hall of Nine, named for his nine voyages aboard the Sea Snake. They were silks, spices, jade, and wonders no other lord in Westeros could boast.
