Seat of House Manwoody, standing in the Red Mountains above the Prince's Pass. The castle takes its grim name from a king of the First Men who fell in battle there in days beyond memory, and whose bones are said to lie beneath its foundations.
The Crowned Skull
The Manwoodys bear a white skull crowned in gold upon black, in remembrance of the king their forebears slew. It is a warning to all who would cross the mountains in arms: crowns have come into these passes before, and stayed.
Watchers on the Pass
With Skyreach to the west, Kingsgrave guards the eastern reaches of the Prince's Pass, the road every western army must travel to reach the heart of Dorne. The Manwoodys are known besides as a clever and bookish line, though their wits have never dulled their spears.
