Queenscrown is an abandoned towerhouse in the New Gift, a round stone tower rising from an island in a lake south of the Wall. A village once stood upon the lakeshore, but its people drifted south long ago, leaving tower and cottages alike to the wind.
The Queen's Crown
When Good Queen Alysanne visited the north in the days of King Jaehaerys I, she stayed at the tower, and the villagers gilded its merlons in her honor, so that the tower seemed to wear a golden crown. The gilt endures, and gave the place its name.
The Hidden Causeway
The tower can be reached dry-shod only by those who know the way, for a causeway of stepping stones lies hidden just beneath the surface of the lake, crooked and treacherous to any who have not walked it before.
