Seat of House Crane, standing upon the shore of the great lake that shares its name in the far northwest of the Reach. Beyond its waters rise the hills that mark the borders of the westerlands, and its lords have long kept watch over that uneasy frontier.
The Rose of Red Lake
The Cranes trace their descent from Rose of Red Lake, a daughter of Garth Greenhand who, the tales say, could take the form of a crane at will. The white cranes that stalk the lake's shallows are held sacred by the smallfolk of the lakeshore, who will not harm them for fear of striking a daughter of the old blood. From that legend the lords of Red Lake took the dancing crane of their banner, and their line has held the lake since the Age of Heroes.
