Seat of House Bracken, whose red stallion has run upon its banners since the Age of Heroes, when the Brackens were kings among the First Men. The castle stands amid rich pasture and horse country along the Red Fork, for no house in the riverlands breeds finer mounts.
The Feud
Across the river lie the lands of House Blackwood, and between Bracken and Blackwood there has been blood for as long as men have kept records, and longer still. Each house names the other the usurper of an ancient crown, and the border mill and stream between them have changed hands a hundred times. Kings and lords paramount have commanded peace, and the peace has held only until the next generation came of age.
