Walled town in the hill country of the southern riverlands, the largest in the region after the ports of the coast. It takes its name from the old sept of stone at its heart, raised when the Andals first carried the Seven across the Trident.
The Battle of the Bells
It was in the streets of Stoney Sept that Robert Baratheon, wounded and hunted, hid from the men of the crown while the town concealed him. When the armies met, every bell in the town rang without ceasing, and men fought house to house through the alleys and gardens while the bells tolled above them. The Battle of the Bells broke the royal host, and many say the Targaryen dynasty began its fall to the sound of that ringing.
