Seat of House Vaith, standing upon the river of the same name where it flows out of the deep sands toward the Greenblood. The lords of Vaith style themselves Lords of the Red Dunes, for their lands lie along the burning edge of the Dornish desert.
The River Vaith
The river is shallow and slow, yet in a land of sand any water is wealth. Poleboats of the orphans of the Greenblood come up the Vaith in the wetter seasons, trading as far as the castle walls, and the Vaiths take their toll of all that passes.
The Red Dunes
South and west of the castle the dunes roll away beyond sight, red as a Dornish sunset. The Vaiths hold the marches between river and desert, and travelers bound for Hellholt or Sandstone take their leave of green things at Vaith's gates.
