Seat of House Wyl, standing upon the river Wyl where the Boneway winds down out of the Red Mountains toward the Sea of Dorne. Castle, river, and house share one name, and all three have long meant grief to the Stormlands.
The Boneway
The high stony road that climbs past Wyl toward the Dornish Marches earned its name from the bones of the armies that have died upon it. The Wyls have made an art of mountain war, rolling stones and loosing arrows from the heights until proud hosts become carrion.
A Black Repute
Even among Dornishmen the Wyls are named cruel, and marcher mothers still frighten children with tales of the black adder banner. In the old wars between Dorne and the Storm Kings, no house struck harder across the border, nor was harder struck in answer.
